Zachary Levi has been in trouble with Twitter as users accused him of spreading anti-vaccine rhetoric. This news comes after Lyndon Wood made a post on Twitter asking his followers to agree on whether Pfizer is dangerous to the world. Levi stated that he agreed with the statement leading to other Twitter users bashing him for being a right-winger against vaccines.
The backlash came even though the actor’s statement didn’t provide any information on whether he was against vaccines. Some Twitter users went as far as referring to comments Levi had made in the past.
Levi has made controversial statements in the past
This included a Joe Rogan interview where the two celebrities discussed Jordan Peterson and Elliot Page. The latter is a trans actor who has made a few headlines since coming out as a transgender male.
In the interview with Joe Rogan, Levi praises Jordan Peterson and refers to him as one of the deepest thinkers he has ever known. The interview came days after Peterson, a controversial right-wing figure, had been suspended from Twitter for his comments on Page. Furthermore, Levi did not correct the interviewer, Rogan, when he referred to Page by the wrong pronouns.
This instance was not the first time Levi made a controversial statement. In 2018, he received more backlash after he implied that men should be able to lead conversations on sexism while white people should be able to lead discussions on racism as truth did not care about privilege.
In 2020, he appeared to empathize with Trump voters in another tweet shortly after Joe Biden had been declared the election winner. However, Levi later stated that he was no fan of Trump and found him selfish, insensitive, vulgar, and lacking in empathy.
The Warner Brothers are getting ready to release Shazam
The latest uproar against Levi comes after Warner Brothers Discovery plans to release ‘Shazam. Duty of the Gods’. Levi is to play the lead actor Shazam in the film. Many people see this as a PR disaster for the movie maker as it goes on a press tour for its movie.
In response to the commotion, Levi explained what he had meant by his tweet. He posted a 2009 press release the Department of Justice had made regarding Pfizer and a fraud case it was investigating. The case ended with the drug company agreeing to pay $2.3 billion in a settlement.
The scandal comes after Project Veritas makes allegations against Pfizer
Although Levi has claimed that his post was about corruption in big pharma, many Twitter users don’t believe him, especially after the drop of Project Veritas’ video. The video includes an interview with an alleged Pfizer executive who brags that the company manipulates the COVID virus to make more money on vaccines.
Project Veritas identified the executive in the undercover video as the company’s research and development director, Jordon Thrishton Walker. However, since the release of this video, no one by this name can be found on the internet in connection with Pfizer.
Fans are unsure if Levi’s comments will affect the movie
This video has been top news among U.S. conservatives; hence, it is unsurprising to see why Levi’s comments elicited strong reactions from Twitter users. Fans of the upcoming movie are still waiting to see how this tweet will affect Warner Brothers.
Many people are hopeful that this will not impact the movie negatively as the company had a bigger scandal with Ezra Miller yet managed to save the Flash movie. However, others believe that Peter Safran and James Gunn, the newest executives for Warner Brothers, might have no problem scrapping it as they have done the same to many other projects.
